The Government of Israel has extended an invitation to Ghanaian entrepreneurs and businessmen who want to do business in the country.

It said the business environment in Israel promotes creativity and innovation, calling on Ghanaian businessmen to consider doing business in Israel.

Rafael Harpaz, Director of Economic Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, who disclosed these in an exclusive interview with BUSINESS GUIDE said measures had been put in place to ensure that businesses operates in a very conducive environment.

“The Ghanaian community enjoys a very positive image in Israel and we are ready to make room for more since the business environment is friendly and market-oriented,” he emphasized.

Mr. Harpaz was on his first visit to Ghana to exploit investment opportunities.

He said businessmen in Israel are planning to come to Ghana to invest in areas such as telecommunications, agro business, water management and renewable energy, among others.

Mr. Harpaz noted that he met senior government officials from the Ministries of Trade and Industry, Energy, Food and Agriculture and some members in the private sector from both countries, adding “that the feedback had been very positive.”

He noted that “already there were a significant number of Israeli companies in Ghana that operated in areas such as telecommunications and agriculture, creating employment for Ghanaians.”

This, he noted, culminated in the setting up of the Ghana-Israel Chamber of Commerce (GICC) in 2009 to develop business relationships between Ghana and Israeli.

He said, “GICC is a non-governmental trade promotion organization which connects members to a global network, which provides vital information and facilitates business contacts. It is also dedicated to creating business development opportunities.”

Members, he said, include manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, professional and business service providers, agriculturalist, construction firms and scientists.

Mr. Harpaz was hopeful that with many Israeli companies coming to invest in Ghana, the bilateral relations between the two countries would further deepen.
